The Rt. Rev. Julian Mark Dobbs serves as the Diocesan Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of the Living Word, providing episcopal oversight to the clergy and congregations of the diocese. Since 2006, Bishop Dobbs and his wife, Brenda, have made their home in Northern Virginia.
Ordained in 1991, Bishop Dobbs planted three congregations and served as the rector of the fastest-growing Anglican parish in New Zealand. In 2011, he was elected and consecrated bishop by the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), and he now serves as a member of the College of Bishops of the Anglican Church in North America (ACNA).
A confessional, mission-driven Anglican, Bishop Dobbs is deeply committed to the authority of Holy Scripture and the historic formularies of the English Reformation. As the founding bishop of the Anglican Diocese of the Living Word, he has played a leading role in advancing biblically faithful Anglicanism throughout North America and in global Anglican realignment.
Rooted in the theological vision of the 1662 Book of Common Prayer and the Thirty-Nine Articles of Religion, Bishop Dobbs leads with clarity, conviction, and pastoral concern. His ministry is marked by steadfast commitment to Christian orthodoxy—particularly in matters of doctrine, marriage, human sexuality, and the sanctity of life. In a culture increasingly shaped by secular ideologies, he stands without compromise for the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Though unwavering in doctrine, Bishop Dobbs is pastoral in spirit—mentoring clergy, encouraging families, and building unity through relational integrity. His ministry exemplifies a Reformed Anglicanism that is courageous, compassionate, and committed to the global mission of the Church.
